Our 10-part series “Gasoline Deluxe” with entertainer Friedrich Liechtenstein is nominated for the Grimme-Award 2017 in the category “Entertainment”. In the series, the entertainer and gas station lover Friedrich Liechtenstein searches for the most extraordinary gas stations in Europe. His aim: he wants to convince the world that gas stations are the most romantic places in our present age.
The series follows a concept by Christian Beetz and Georg Tschurtschenthaler and was directed by Jeremy JP Fekete, Marco Wilms and Tuan Lam for ZDF/ARTE and ORF. It was funded by medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. The TV premiere of all ten parts was on Whitmonday 2016 on the theme day “Dreaming of Gas Stations” on ARTE.
The Grimme-Award is one of the most prestigious awards for TV shows in Germany. There are 14 nominees in the category “Entertainment”. The winners of the 53. Grimme-Award 2017 will be announced on March 8, 2017.
The cross-platform project “Gasoline Deluxe” consists, apart from the TV-series, of a VR-experience, a music video of the titel song “1.000 Liter”, which is nominated for the Los Angeles Music Video Awards and won the Video Music Award by photokina, the 8-part web series “The Universe According to Friedrich Liechtenstein” and a 90 minute documentary film.
