Since its founding in 2000, gebrueder beetz filmproduktion has already produced more than 230 high-quality documentaries, series and feature length documentaries for the national and international market. According to the industry guide "Realscreen" – it is one of the 100 most important independent production companies worldwide.

We consider ourselves being a production boutique, as each of the 12 to 15 films we produce every year are specifically developed and produced for a specific target audience – be it national or international.

We are intrigued by storytelling and cover a broad range of topics: thrilling crime & investigative films, touching biographies, spectacular nature and adventure series, and contemporary music and culture programs.

We are 15 years in the market and have produced 200 films so far. In 2020 we have produced the first german Netflix original docu miniseries A Perfect Crime. The four-part documentary analyzes the murder of politician Detlev Rohwedder in 1991 – an unsolved crime that shook reunified Germany.

Also currently available on Netflix is our six-part political series Nisman – Death of a Prosecutor, just like our Berlinale 2017 entrée Dream Boat, produced for well targeted audiences like the LGBTQI community. This film tells the story of five men out of 3.000 participants of a cruise only for gay men. After Festival completions the film was sold to Netflix. The film was named one of the 10 best LGBTQI films of 2017 by Gay Star News.

In 2018 we have launched our investigative documentary thriller The Cleaners on the dark side of Social Media in competition at the Sundance International Film Festival, nominated for the International Emmy® Awards, Prix Europa for best european Documentary. The film was coproduced with more than 20 international partners.

Nearly all productions, like our documentary about the World Economic Forum, The Forum are broadcasted pan-European and worldwide.

We regularly act as European coproducer for US-productions: we coproduced the 2013 Academy Award nominee Open Heart by Kief Davidson and The Yes Men Are Revolting directed by Laura Nix.

In addition we are regularly producing content for the German TV market. Our sex-education format Make Love (16 episodes) set the ratings partly by 400% reaching millions of people. In 2016 one episode of the format was the most watched program of the digital library of ZDF.

The company‘s productions compete regularly at main international A-festivals like Sundance Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, IDFA, Toronto International Film Festival, Hotdocs, SXSW and have won numerous awards (Sundance Special Jury, Cinema for Peace Award, three British Independent Awards, the Prix Europa, Lola / German Academy Awards, five Grimme Awards/ German Emmys) and prestigious nominations (Academy Award®, International Emmy® Award).
