MALI BLUES nominated for the German Documentary Film Award 2017
Our documentary MALI BLUES by Lutz Gregor is nominated for the German Documentary Film Award 2017. From 113 submissions, 12 productions were considered for a closer selection. The award ceremony will be held on the 30th June 2017 in the frame of the first edition of the SWR Docu Festival in Stuttgart. Following Fatoumata Diawara, shooting star of the global pop scene, MALI BLUES is a musical journey, discovering the country’s rich musical culture and it’s threat by radical Islamists. On our way we meet other committed musicians, who are fighting for unity and the freedom to express themselves through their music, like world famous Ngoni player and traditional Griot Bassekou Kouyaté, street rapper Master Soumy and Tuareg band leader Ahmed Ag Kaedi.
#uploading_holocaust (Web) nominated for PRIX EUROPA 2017
Our multimedia web project about how teenagers commemorate the Holocaust is nominated for PRIX EUROPA 2017. Of 677 projects from 34 countries, #uploading_holocaust is now among the last five online projects from Germany. The PRIX EURPOA 2017 will be awarded on October 20, 2017 in Berlin. We would like to thank all our partners, supporters and team members for the good cooperation in this project!
Cinema launch of Mali Blues
After travelling to more than 60 international film festivals, the music documentary will also have its cinema release in the United States, starting on June 30 in New York and continuing in San Fransisco, Chicago and Detroit. MALI BLUES tells the story of four musicians from the West African country of Mali, who espouse with their music a tolerant Islam and a country at peace – Fatoumata Diawara, Bassekou Kouyaté, Ahmed Ag Kaedi and Master Soumy. Icarus Films coordinates sales and distribution.

DREAM BOAT in the Official Selection of Sheffield Doc/Fest
Our documentary DREAM BOAT by Tristan Ferland Milewski is in the Official Selection of the Sheffield Doc/Fest 2017. The film will be screened on Saturday, 11th June 2017 at 9pm. Once a year the DREAM BOAT sets sail for a cruise only for gay men. Far from their families and political restrictions, we follow five men from five countries on the quest for their dreams. The cruise promises seven days of sunshine, love, and freedom – but on board are also their personal stories, their doubts and uncertainties… Sheffield Doc/Fest is a world leading and the UK’s premier documentary festival, celebrating the art and business of documentary and all non-fiction storytelling. It welcomes over 32,700 Festival goers each year, including over 3,500 industry delegates from over 60 countries.

Our multimedia web project www.uploading-holocaust.com is nominated for Germany’s most important online award, the Grimme Online Award 2017! From 1,200 submissions, the project is among the 28 nominees for the award and runs in the category “Knowledge & Education”. The award ceremony will take place on June 30, 2017 in Cologne. SUPERNERDS at the Transmedia Day in Munich
On March 8, producer Georg Tschurtschenthaler will present our transmedia project at the Transmedia Day in an interactive showcase. With other international experts he will discuss new technologies and ways of interactive storytelling. The Transmedia Day is part of the three-day conference „i4c“ on innovation in video content.
"Falciani's Tax Bomb": TV Premiere & Webdoc Release on June 23rd
Today, June 23rd at 8:15 pm the investigative documentary “Falciani’s Tax Bomb” has its TV premiere on ARTE. The Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) has awarded our cinema documentary MALI BLUES (Director: Lutz Gregor) in the category „Freedom Films“! Screen Nation Award Nomination for Nelson Mandela: the myth and me
Our South African co-production “Nelson Mandela: the myth and me” has once more been nominated for a prestigious film award.   On february 5th, the jury will decide if Khalo Matabane’s groundbreaking documentary about one of the most important opponents of apartheid will win the award in the section “Diversity in Factual Production”.   After the Grimme-Award nomination and the Special Jury Award at IDFA 2013, we are excited to see if “Nelson Mandela: the myth and me” will win its first award on British territory.
