MALI BLUES by Lutz Gregor is the “wild card” for the competition of the German Film Awards 2017, the LOLA. This honours especially the work of DoP Axel Schneppat and editor Markus CM Schmidt. The documentary has been screened in German cinemas for more than 17 weeks now and was the winner of “Best Film” at Unerhört Musikfilmfestival Hamburg.
On March 24 and April 1, 2017 MALI BLUES will be presented at FIFA Montréal, Canada. Also, it was selected for FIFEQ, the International Ethnographic Film Festival in Québec where the screening will be on March 24.
MALI BLUES tells the story of four musicians from the West African country of Mali, who espouse with their music a tolerant Islam and a country at peace – Fatoumata Diawara, Bassekou Kouyaté, Ahmed Ag Kaedi and Master Soumy.
